Associate Director of Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment Insurance, The University of Texas System
Melissa Steger is the Associate Director of Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment Insurance for The University of Texas System (the UT System). Melissa is responsible for administering the self-insured workers’ compensation program and unemployment compensation insurance fund for the academic and health institutions of the UT System. She has extensive experience with the public, private and regulatory sectors of the workers’ compensation insurance industry.
Melissa is on the board for national PRIMA, serving as 2021-2022 President. She also served two terms on the Texas PRIMA board receiving the 2016 Risk Professional of the Year award and 2020 PRIMA Chapter Service Award. She is currently a Director on the Kids’ Chance of Texas board and a dean and faculty member for WorkCompCollege.com. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Master of Public Administration degree, and is a certified risk manager.
